Community Committee

OSA is forming a Community Committee that will work to establish community consensus on parks issues, develop community priorities for parks projects and involve the community in Park management. Currently over 50 organizations have expressed an interest in joining the Community Committee.

The Community Committee will have an active advocacy role, seeking support for funding for specific parks projects in the community as well as for general parks department funding. As many of these organizations have been doing for years- they will continue to represent the area's parks at state and city functions and events- developing and maintaining important relationships with elected officials representing the community. Many individual member organizations have in the past and will continue to represent individual parks and specific activities within parks. The Community Committee will give them a forum to garner support from other organizations and from the Community Committee as a whole- and to obtain varying types of support from OSA.

As soon as the OSA Executive Director/North Brooklyn Parks Administrator is hired this winter, the Community Committee will be formally convened.

To find out how your organization can become a member of the Community Committee, please email us at info@openspacealliancenb.org.
